Four people have been taken to hospital after a crash on the A74 (M)

The incident took place at 5:50am between junctions 20 and 21.

The casualties were said to have been suffering from the effects of inhaling chemicals and taken to Dumfries Royal Infirmary for treatment.

Firefighters in Dumfries and Galloway helped the casualties and cleared the motorway after two HGVs collided this morning.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service liaised with the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency to ensure the chemicals were safely managed and removed.
