A pedestrian who died after being hit by a car in Dumfries has been named as Andrew Jardine.
The 19-year-old, from Dumfries, was stuck by a blue Mercedes on the A709 Dumfries to Lockerbie road at around 5:30am. He was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary but was pronounced dead.
Any witnesses to the incident are being asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.
The A709 in Dumfries has reopened. The road was closed as police carried out investigation after a pedestrian was hit by a car and died at around 5:30am.
Police say that they hope to have the A709 back open within the hour.
Crash investigators are at the scene and Dumfries and Galloway Police estimate that the road will remain closed until after midday while they attempt to determine exactly what caused the collision.
