The man who died in a house fire in Ambleside has been names as 58-year-old Richard Durkin from Bridge Street, Ambleside.
Mr Durkin died at the scene, but his 53-year-old female partner was not injured.
Police are working with Cumbria Fire and Rescue to find out the cause of the fire, but at this time it is not believed to be suspicious.

A woman who was also in the house at the time escaped uninjured.
Police are asking for people to remain away from the area while emergency services continue to deal with the incident.
There is a diversion in place on North Road, but it is not suitable for large vehicles.
