Police are appealing for information to help them find 26-year-old Thomas McMorrow who went missing from the Glenridding area of Penrith late on Sunday, January 5.

Family 'overhwelmed' by support in search for missing son

The father of a Penrith chef who went missing ten days ago has said he and his wife have been overwhelmed by the support they have received. Tom McMorrow hasn't been seen since leaving a works party at the Inn on the Lake on Ullswater.

An appeal on Facebook by his family and friends brought a group of people to the lake shore today to carry out yet another search. Kim Inglis reports.

Friends and family of a Penrith chef who vanished at a staff Christmas party at Glenridding are carrying out a search of the area.

Police divers searched parts of Ullswater last week after Thomas McMorrow disappeared from the Inn on the Lake ten days ago.

Family of missing man 'won't give up hope of finding him'

The family of a missing Penrith man say they won't give up hope of finding him.

Tom McMorrow went missing on Sunday 5 January after his work Christmas party.

Extensive searches by Underwater Search Teams, Mountain Rescue and Police Officers have been carried out to try and find the 26-year-old.

Although the intensive searching has been scaled down his family are continuing to appeal for anyone who may have seen him to get in contact.

He is described as approximately 5ft 11in tall, of slim build and with short brown hair which is receding at the front.

He was last seen wearing blue denim trousers, a long sleeved white shirt and brown shoes.

Anyone who knows of Thomas McMorrow’s whereabouts or anyone who as seen someone matching his description, is asked call Cumbria Police on 101, asking to speak to the duty Sergeant at Penrith Police Station.

Police call on public to help find missing man

Cumbria Police are asking anyone with outbuildings in the Glenridding area to check them in the hope of finding a missing man from Penrith.

Tom McMorrow has been missing since 5 January.

He was last seen at the Inn on the Lake at Glenridding on Ullswater at his work Christmas party.

“We are continuing to search for Tom in the hope that we can bring him home to his family. We have spoken to people who were at the party that night and have been looking in the area for any signs of him being there.

We are searching Lake Ullswater as a precaution and underwater search teams have been looking in the vicinity of the pier and the water’s edge.

We appeal to members of the public to help us find Tom, anyone in the area of Glenridding who as outbuildings is asked to check for any signs of someone using them for shelter.”

Anyone with any information about the whereabouts of Tom McMorrow is asked to call Cumbria Police on 101 and speak to any officer at Penrith Police Station.

“Tom is a bright, personable young man. [He] was used to and well equipped for outdoor activities having a Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award, he was a strong swimmer and had a water lifesaver award and had undertaken St. John's first Aid Courses.

We appeal for anyone who may have seen him or knows of his whereabouts to get in touch with the police. His family and friends in Penrith, and his large extended family around the country are very worried about him. If he is hearing this directly, then we appeal for him to contact us, we just want to make sure you are safe and well.”

Police still searching for missing Penrith man

Cumbria Police are continuing to search for Tom McMorrow, who has been missing since Sunday 5 January.

He was last seen at the Inn on the Lake on the shores of Ullswater in Glenridding.

Extensive searches involving the police and mountain rescue teams are ongoing, even in difficult weather conditions.

His family and friends are keen to hear any information that might lead to determining his whereabouts.

A search is continuing for a third day around Ullswater looking for Thomas McMorrow who went missing on Sunday night after a works party.

Colleagues believed he had left the Inn on the Lake at Glenridding for Penrith around 10.30.

Thomas's family have made an appeal for information about his whereabouts.

Police divers have spent a second day searching one of Cumbria's lakes after a Penrith man went missing from his work's night out.

26 year old Thomas McMorrow was last seen at the Inn on the Lake at Glenridding on Ullswater on Sunday night.

Police say while they are carrying out an underwater search they are still keeping an open mind.

The family of a man who been missing for three days are appealing for him to come home.

Tom McMorrow was last seen enjoying his staff party at the Inn on the Lake on the shores of Ullswater in Glenridding on Sunday night.

Police and mountain rescue teams have continued to search for him in the difficult weather conditions.

His family and friends are keen to hear any information that might lead to determining his whereabouts.

His parents, Mr Fergus and Mrs Eulyth McMorrow said:

“Tom is a bright, personable young man. He went to Keswick School and got excellent GCSE's and A level grades.

“He had hoped to go to University to do Medicine, but despite getting the required grades at A level, he got no offers from Medical Schools and instead chose to go on to Manchester University to study Pharmacy.

“In the end he decided that this was not the career for him and came back to Cumbria and as an interim measure decided to use his self-taught skills in cooking, a hobby he had loved from a young age, to gain employment with the George Hotel in Penrith.

“Tom was used to and well equipped for outdoor activities having a Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award, he was a strong swimmer and had a water lifesaver award and had undertaken St. John's first Aid Courses.

“We appeal for anyone who may have seen him or knows of his whereabouts to get in touch with the police. His family and friends in Penrith, and his large extended family around the country are very worried about him.
