School's tribute to teacher

A school in Penrith has released a tribute to their teacher who died at the weekend.

57-year-old Marian Page went missing on Friday 10 January and her body was found at 2pm yesterday on the Castle Currock area.

She had been a teacher at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School in Penrith.

"Mrs Page was an outstanding teacher who had been at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School for eighteen years. She taught Environmental Science and Geography to sixth formers with an intellect and passion which shone through in both her teaching and the impressive results her students achieved."

During her time at the school Mrs Page held numerous positions, including Head of Geography, Head of Environmental Science, Head of Year 7 and Head of Year 8 and, most recently, she was joint Head of Sixth Form.

Head Master, C J Kirkup, said she brought always did "the very best she possibly could" for all her students.

"Many hundreds of students owe their success in their A Level examinations and their places at university to her inspiring teaching, guidance and support whilst they were in her year group in the Sixth Form.

"Students have been informed this morning and we are putting in place support. We will have other teachers taking Mrs Page’s classes this week and will address as quickly as we can the appointment of permanent teachers for her classes."

Appeal for missing woman to get in touch

Cumbria Police are appealing for a missing woman to get in touch.

57-year-old Marian Page, from Southwaite, has been missing since Friday 10 January.

Ms Page's car was found in Castle Carrock and police have launched a search in the area.

Police describe her disappearance as being 'out of character' and want her to get in touch with either the police or her family.

Marian is described as approximately 5ft 4in tall, of average build with short dark brown hair.

Anyone with any information about her whereabouts should call Cumbria Police on 101 and ask to speak to the on duty Sergeant at Penrith Police Station, quoting reference CP-20140112-0108.
