A swimming pool in Cumbria has opened five months after it was shut because of a suspected chemical leak.

The council reopened Wigton Baths today, but it'll be down to the efforts of the people of Wigton if the pool is to remain open in the future, as Katie Hunter reports:

Wigton baths has reopened after being closed five month ago with Colin Smithson being the first in the water this morning.

The pool was shut last year after it was linked to a chemical leak which polluted a near by stream.

Cumbria County Council currently run the baths but will hand over control to a community trust next year.

Colin Smithson was the first to take plunge this morning at the newly reopen Wigton swimming pool.

The pool was closed by Cumbria County Council last year after it was linked to a chemical leak.

Mr Smithson had been one of many people campaigning to keep the baths open.

He said he was "very happy" to be back.
