The future of beekeeping in Dumfries is in jeopardy

A pioneering scheme is underway in our Dumfries to produce the next generation of beekeepers. The average age of people who keep bees is over 60, and there are fears that unless younger people take it up, its future could be in jeopardy.

And that, according to the experts is a serious problem, because as well as producing honey, bees play a vital role in the food economy. Fiona McIlwraith reports.
