The 76-year-old, from Preston, has been missing for eleven days.
He was seen walking his dog at Ravenglass Estuary on Monday 28 April. Police believe he was trying to help his dog from the water when he went missing.
He was visiting the area on holiday.

Mr Allen, from Preston, was last seen at about 9am on Monday 28 April whilst walking his dog at Ravenglass Estuary.
Previous searches have involved up to 100 people at low tide.

A major search operation has been taking place for him involving up to 100 people and local volunteers. As the estuary is tidal, some of the searches can only take place when the water level is low. Mr Allen is from Preston and was holidaying in the area.
Police and other emergency services are continuing to look for John Allen at Ravenglass.
This morning (29th) a search at low tide found no sign of Mr Allen.
It follows a search last night which involved a large number of emergency services, including Mountain rescue teams, Coastguard, Cumbria Fire and Rescue officers, Cumbria Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) officers, the National Police Air Service and Cumbria Police officers.
John Allen was last seen entering the water of Ravenglass Estuary at 9am on 28th April.

“Following enquiries we do not believe Mr Allen was swimming in the Estuary yesterday morning, but may have been trying to help his dog out of the water. The dog is fine, however Mr Allen has notbeen seen since.
We had around 100 people out searching for Mr Allen last night, and we are appealing to the local community to get in touchwith any relevant information they may have.”

The search was paused overnight but teams have also been looking along the banks of the estuary. Around 50 members of the emergency services have been involved in the operation.
