A singer from Carlisle was part of a five-piece operatic boyband who have won Britain's Got Talent 2014. Matt Pagan and the group impressed the nation and the judges in the final, with one describing it as 'the perfect performance'.

BGT winners are 'overwhelmed' by support

Collabro, a classical boy band, have won by public vote in this year's Britain's Got Talent.

The group, which includes Carlisle's Matt Pagan, were in the final three with Bars and Melody and Lucy Kay, but they were named the winners after delivering what was described as the "perfect performance" by one of the judges.

Previous cast members of the musical Les Miserables have sent their congratulations to BGT winners, Collabro.

The classical boy band sang 'Stars' from the worldwide musical.

David McNeill runs StagedRight Youth Theatre in Carlisle. Collabro member Matt Pagan was a member for several years and appeared in different productions. David told ITV News he was initially shy but they quickly realised he had huge potential.

He spoke to reporter Hannah McNulty and started by telling her where he was when Matt and his group were crowned winners of Britain's Got Talent 2014:
