Dog 'lucky to be alive' after stabbing

A dog who was stabbed during a robbery is 'lucky to be alive' according to her vet.

13-year-old Sky was attacked at the garden centre where she lives with her owner, Peter Scott.

But her vet says things could have been very different:

"It appears to have been something that has been relatively blunt that's been stabbed in at the chest. I'm guessing she's been jumping up at somebody and they've stabbed in. We think probably a jemmy bar or a crow bar, we can't say for certain. It's not a knife would, it's something sharp enough but still fairly blunt.

"Fortunately there's a breast bone in front. If it had been either side, if she hadn't come up mid-line, it might have gone through into the chest cavity and that would have been it. She wouldn't have made it basically."
