Dumfries welcomes Fiji's Games hopefuls

Fiji's Commonwealth team have set up camp in South West Scotland. They are one of just two Country's at the Commonwealth Games to base their preparations outside of Glasgow, making Dumfries especially privileged.

Team Fiji arrive in Dumfries

This time next week the Commonwealth Games will be well and truly underway.

Ahead of the games the team from Fiji have arrived in Dumfries, which they are using as a base for their pre-games training.

The athletes were welcomed to the town at a reception last night, and Ryan Dollard was there.

Fiji's sporting elite have landed in the south of Scotland ahead of the Commonwealth Games.

The team are one of only two groups who will not be based in Glasgow for the games.

They will be based in Dumfries for the duration of their stay and locals turned out in force to give them a warm welcome.

Local children had a chance to met and train with the athletes and even got the chance to hold a press conference with the team.
