There has been widespread support from businesses in Cumbria after Carlisle City Council gave initial approval to redevelop the city's airport. The plans could still be blocked by further appeals by objectors, but many business leaders are hoping it's approved...

The Stobart Group who own the site say that today's decision could bring 500 jobs to the area. Opponents are still considering whether or not to appeal against it.

City councillors in Carlisle have approved the Stopart Groups plans to develop Carlisle airport. It is not yet known whether or not opponents will seek a judicial review of the decision
