Billy Duncan from Moffat is being honoured with a British Empire Medal for voluntary service to the Royal British Legion Scotland.
He is the chairman of the Moffat Branch and recently led a campaign to stop the town's war memorial from being surrounded by parking spaces:
An 85-year-old war veteran is leading a camping to stop the Moffat war memorial being surrounded by parking spaces.
Billy Duncan is against an application lodged with Dumfries and Galloway Council requesting twelve parking spaces to be assigned around the memorial.
Mr Duncan believes that the parking spaces will restrict the ability for armed forces parades and is highly disrespectful to fallen soldiers.
