Cumbria Police are investigating a report of a serious assault which occurred on Mardale Road in Carlisle at around 6am this morning.
A 21 year old man, from Carlisle, was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries, which are not life threatening.
Two women, aged 19 and 17, have been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

There's been a rise in the number of people abandoning horses on other people's land in the Carlisle area. The northern branch of the Country Land and Business Association says it should be made a criminal offence. Lori Carnochan reports:
Four men have been arrested after reports of 'disorder' at a bar in Carlisle.
Police were called to Gallagher’s Irish Bar on St Nicholas Street at 1.37am this morning.
Three men from Carlisle aged between 31 and 56-years-old were arrested along with a 26-year-old man from Rotherham.
One person was injured and taken to the Cumberland Infirmary with minor injuries.
