Northern relief road plans to be reviewed

A Northern relief road to ease congestion in Kendal is a step closer.

Cumbria County Council has looked at four options to improve infrastructure and ease traffic when the M6 is shut.

South Lakes MP Tim Farron has asked the transport secretary to fund the scheme.

This route would ease congestion in our town and give a huge boost to the employment areas off Shap Road and Appleby Road.

“The gridlock we've had when the M6 has been closed recently has made the need for this new road all the more obvious. “The minister said he'll meet with me to discuss the plans - I'm determined this bypass should be built.”

– Tim Farron MP, Westmorland and Lonsdale
