Thousands turn out for Carlisle's dairy showcase

Around seven thousand people have turned out in Carlisle for the annual Borderway Dairy Expo.

The event showcases the best of the dairy industry with over 400 entries in the livestock classes, as well more than 140 trade stands.

Organisers say the Expo is going from strength to strength and is the perfect opportunity for the industry to come together and celebrate their best produce.

Borderway Dairy Expo returns to Carlisle

The Borderway UK Dairy Expo is returning to Carlisle for a second year.

The event, held at Borderway in the Rosehill Industrial Estate, has already attracted over 300 entries.

Farmers, breeders and judges are coming from all over the world to view the cattle entries, sales and the 150 trade stands and exhibitions.

Organisers are hoping to capitalise on the success of last year, when more than 6000 visitors attended.

"We are delighted that this event is back for a second year as this underlines the importance of providing such a platform for the UK dairy industry.

"We will be aiming to ensure that the event contributes to the development of our industry by emphasising both the commercial and pedigree aspects of the business."
