Police name man who died on A66

Police have named the man who died on the A66 as David Robinson, 53, of Keswick.

He was pronounced dead at the scene after being found injured at around 7.30am on 13 December.

Police are still investigating how David Robinson died, but think he may have been hit by a HGV and that the driver was not aware of the collision.

Anyone with information or who may have dashcam footage of that area around 7.30am, should call 101 and ask to speak to PC 1947 Ross.

Family pay tribute to motorcyclist killed in B5305 crash

A motorcyclist who died in a collision on the morning of Thursday 2 November on the B5305 has been named as David Holden, 54, of Wigton.

Mr Holden's family have released the following statement:

David leaves behind his wife Tracy, who describes him as “her rock” and was a brilliant and loving father to Kayley and Tyler. David will always remain in the hearts of his mother Ann, his five brothers and his nieces and nephews.

Motorcyclist dies following collision on B5305

A motorcyclist has died following a collision on the B5305 this morning.

A Mercedes car, driven by a 23-year-old man from Wigton, collided with a Yamaha motorcycle, ridden by a 54-year-old man, from the Wigton area.

An ambulance and air ambulance attended the scene.

The motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries. The Mercedes driver was treated at the scene and taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to make contact referencing incident number 30 of 2 November 2017.
