Two fatal accidents, witnesses sought

Police in the Scottish Borders are appealing for witnesses after a teenager and a Canadian tourist were killed in two separate road accidents.The first happened at 1.25pm on Wednesday 30th May on the Edinburgh to Moffat A701 road.

Two cars collided and a female Canadian tourist who was a passenger in one of the cars died, she has been named as 57 year old Murielle Joanisse Vaillani, from Gatineau in Quebec. The two male drivers were air lifted to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment. Lotioan and Borders police said:

"We are appealing for any witnesses to the collision, and in particular we want to speak to two female motorcyclists who stopped to assist at the scene until emergency services arrived.

"Both motorcycles had foreign plates, and we are appealing to both women to get in touch with police so that they can assist our inquiries. Likewise we want anyone who has any information regarding their movements after they left the scene to contact us."

The second accident happened at 9.25pm on Wednesday 30th May on the A703 Peebles to Edinburgh road. Nineteen year old Lisa Anne Laurie from Innerleithan died when she lost control of her car. Lothian and Borders POlice are also appealing for information relating to this accident.

Fatal accident Scottish Borders

A middle aged woman has died in a two vehicle accident on a road in the Scottish Borders.She was a passenger in one of the cars which collided on the Edinburgh to Moffat A701 road just north of the Crook Inn at Tweedsmuir, Peeblesshire.

The two male drivers of the vehicles were taken by ambulance to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where they were treated for their injuries.The accident happened at around 1.25p.m.on Wednesday30 May. The road was closed both ways for several hours for a full accident investigation.

Pedestrian killed named

The man who was killed in a car accident on Sunday evening has been named as 20 year old Raymond John Pattinson from Edinburgh Road, Maryport. Mr Pattinson died as a result of his injuries after he was knocked over by a car in Allonby. His family have paid tribute him saying:

“Ray was a fabulous Son, Grandson, Brother and Uncle. He enjoyed life to the full, was a keen Arsenal supporter and was devoted to his team. Ray had many friends and spent most of his spare time in Allonby where he enjoyed playing football and socialising. He was lovable, sensitive and very kind.

Ray leaves behind his Mother Romar, Father Raymond, Step Father Trevor and Grand Parents Yvonne, John and Gerald. He also leaves his Brothers and Sisters Wayne, Marcus, Dale, Hannah, Emma, Katharyn, Jaedon.

Brother in Laws Carl and Scott and Sister in Law Amy. He was also a caring Uncle to Braedon, Bailey Jay, Oliver, Warren, Lilly Mae, Maegan, Michaela, Keelie, Chloe and Carly. Ray will be sadly missed by all including his Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and many friends.”
