A man in his thirties has died, while competing in a fell race in the Lake District.
Police were called at 7:24pm yesterday (19 April) to reports that the man had collapsed while running the Loughrigg Fell race.
Mountain rescue volunteers and the Great North Air Ambulance were also called, but the man subsequently died.
His death is not being treated as suspicious.
The Loughrigg Fell Race began at Rothay Park in Ambleside at 7pm yesterday evening.
A man who died following a fell race in Cumbria has been named.
He was Darren Holloway from Ilkston in Derbyshire, he was 42 years old.
Mr Holloway collapsed while taking part in the Ian Hodgson fell race in Patterdale on Sunday 8th October.
He was treated at the scene by doctors and taken by air ambulance to the Furness General Hospital. Despite the best efforts of the medical staff he died. There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death and the case has been passed to the coroner.
