A group of older people in Dumfries and Galloway have been testing out a new system to help reduce there fuel bills. The smart sensor has been designed by experts at Heriot Watt University and the University of Strathclyde, and is a simple way to help the elderly keep an eye on their energy use
Cumbria's Local Enterprise Partnership has unveiled its financial plan for the county for the next ten years.
It includes plans for thousands of new jobs by focusing on manufacturing, the M6 corridor, tourism and the nuclear industry.

Paul Wheelhouse MSP says the findings in the UK treasury report do not recognise studies undertaken by economists, that suggest an independent Scotland could cope financially.

Scottish Secretary Michael Moore says independence would make Scotland more vulnerable to a banking crisis and that it would be hard for Scotland to maintain a separate pension protection scheme.
The Scottish Government has dismissed his claims as 'flimsy' and will set out their own economic paper tomorrow.
