Hundreds of soldiers have marched though Dumfries to mark the Homecoming Parade for the local regiment, The Royal Scots Borderers.

The Battalion has just returned from operational duties in Afghanistan.

Soldiers welcomed home in Dumfries

Around 200 soldiers and musicians from the 1st Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland are taking part in a Homecoming Parade in Dumfries.

The parade starts on Hoods Loaning at 11am before the soldiers continue their march on to Shakespeare Street, the Whitesands, Buccleuch Street (where a salute will take place at the Municipal Chambers), Burns Statue, High Street, English Street- finishing back at Hoods Loaning around 11.45pm.

The parade will then be followed by a Civic Reception for The Royal Scots Borderers at the DG One leisure centre.
