The man who fell 600ft to his death on Scafell mountain has been named as James Kirk Blackburn from West Yorkshire.
Mr Blackburn, from Great North Road in Darrington, died at around 10am on Monday (December 10th), after slipping on ice while climbing Lord Rake's Traverse.
The walking partner of Mr Blackburn, a 64-year-old man from Nottinghamshire, had to be rescued from the mountain after suffering from shock and the effects of the cold.
He was airlifted to West Cumberland Hospital for treatment, but later discharged.
Cumbria Police say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
