Around 30 students from Carlisle College have spent the morning receiving acting and directing guidance from Hollywood star John Hurt and 'The Tempest' producer Don Boyd.

Georgia Armstrong, who is a student at Carlisle College, said:

"I was a big bag of nerves but I was settled by a hug from John Hurt and Don Boyd."

A group of students in Carlisle are being treated to an acting and directing mastertclass from Hollywood superstar John Hurt.

The English actor is famous for his roles in films such as The Elephant Man and The Midnight Express.

He is visiting Cumbria to help launch the Keswick film festival.

John Hurt acting masterclass in Carlisle

Students studying media at Carlisle College are being treated to an acting masterclass from John Hurt.

The special class is being held as part of the launch of Keswick film festival.

Students will be given pointers on their acting and directing skills, as well as working with Don Boyd, producer of 'the Tempest' as part of their hour within small groups to create a more personal and fulfilling workshop.

"When we were sat down and told about the planned experience, none of us could believe it.

"As students we look up to actors of such calibre and the fact John is an experience director also just enhances the experience and opportunity."
