Bus company statement

A statement has been released from Dumfries bus company MacEwans Coach Services, after one of its buses carrying 13 passengers crashed outside Biggar around 8.30pm on 14th November.

Seven people were taken to hospital for treatment.

"We are a company with 28 year's experience in passenger transport and treat the safety of our customers as our number one concern.

"We are pleased to assist in the investigation of yesterday's accident by the police and VOSA who will be speaking with our driver and myself.

"We will also conduct our own investigation to see if any lessons can be learned.

"It appears that the accident did not involve any other vehicles and that there was heavy fog last night but at this moment we have no further information as to what exactly happened.

"Our vehicles are regularly checked and the driver has more than 10 years' bus-driving experience.

"Our thoughts are with those passengers who suffered minor injuries inthis accident. Our driver also suffered injuries and is in a stable condition in his hospital bed. We wish everyone a speedy recovery."
