£1.1 million for Eskdalemuir community project
A remote settlement in south-west Scotland has received a Big Lottery Fund grant of £1.1million, to create a new community project.
The Upper Eskdale Development Group plan to use the money on creating a new community hub in a former Victorian School building.
Plans include a two-storey extension to the building, which wil house new offices, an art room, a shop, cafe and a bakery.
– Nick Jennings, Eskdalemuir Project Development Manager"This is great news, it's the culmination of years of hard work. If all goes according to plan then work could begin as soon as twelve weeks time."
