Wednesday night saw the Aurora Borealis light up the night sky.
Flashes of red, green and pink were seen across the region thanks to clear skies.
Hopefully it will set the scene for further spectacles in 2017.
Despite a cloudy night the skies did clear for just long enough in some parts of the region to see one of nature's most spectacular events.
The Northern Lights, or aurora borealis, were visible to a patient few.

The Wickerman statue in Dundrennan, Dumfries and Galloway, stands against a backdrop of Northern Lights.
Many of you have been sending us your photos of last night's Northern Lights sightings.
They're so good, we thought we'd share them with you.
