A battle that claimed the lives of hundreds on a site near Selkirk has been remembered in a project exploring what took place at the battleground.

The Battle of Philiphaugh took place on September 13th 1645, when an army of Royalists were defeated by Parliamentary Covenanters during a period of Civil War between Scotland, England and Ireland.

A new project has seen some information boards installed on a path that runs alongside the battleground.

An archaeological dig has uncovered artefacts to help better understand what took place.

The project has been funded by Scottish Borders LEADER, Scottish Borders Council and the Philiphaugh Trust.
