Children from 24 schools attended A Young Persons' Remembrance Service at the City Memorial in Carlisle today. They were led to the memorial by a Piper and the Royal British Legion standard, where they were given to the opportunity to lay tributes.
Poppies and wildflowers are being planted in a Cumbrian churchyard to mark one hundred years since the outbreak of the First World War.
People ave been invited to spread seeds at the war memorial in St. Andrew's churchyard in Penrith.
When the flowers have blossomed, they will be encouraged to go along and remember members of their families who lost their lives.
