Carlisle away to Preston is considered a derby match by the United fans - and they were so close to claiming the bragging rights in their match at Deepdale.
Carlisle's Joe Garner won a first-half penalty and scored from the spot - and that looked like it was going to win the game, until Preston levelled the scores four minutes into stoppage time at the end to leave it 1-1.
A major policing operation will get underway ahead of Carlisle United's Johnstones Paints Trophy clash with Preston at Brunton Park on Tuesday night.
Police dogs, motorcyclists and officers with headcams will be on duty to deter violence and respond quickly to any incidents that occur.
Officers will be deployed at Brunton Park and in other strategic locations around the city and troublemakers will be identified, targeted and removed.
Superintendent Sean Robinson said: "Cumbria Constabulary is committed to ensuring Brunton Park is a safe place for all fans to enjoy the game. The policing operation will target troublemakers who are intent on spoiling the enjoyment of genuine supporters."
