Former Carlisle pupil spearheads Olympic legacy

It was back to school for Carlisle born UK Javelin Champion Lee Doran as he visited Morton Academy in a bid to carry on the Olympic legacy.

He was accompanied by his girlfriend, silver and bronze winning paralympian Bethany Woodward on a visit to meet pupils at his former school.

Lee narrowly missed out on representing Britain at the London Olympics, but is currently training for Rio in 2016, as well as the 2014 Commonwealth games in Glasgow.

He comes from a family of gifted javelin champions- his elder sister Collette will be competing in the deaf olympics next year, meanwhile their younger sister Ellie Jo is an aspiring javellin thrower, currently in year 9 at the academy.
