Man crushed by car in Ambleside

A man has been severely injured after being crushed between a car and a wall in Ambleside this morning.

The Great North Air Ambulance was called to the scene in the middle of the town, where paramedics treated the 48-year-old from Cambridge.

He had sustained serious chest injuries and was flown to Preston, where his condition was stable upon arrival.

Police warned drivers this morning that traffic disruption was to be expected on the the A591 at Market Place.

The A591 at Market Place in Ambleside is closed as emergency services deal with a road traffic collision.

Police were called at 10:13am today following a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian.

Serious congestion is expected, especially to those travelling southbound, and motorists are asked to avoid the area and use alternative routes.

A7 closed following serious collision

Police in the Borders are attending a serious road traffic collision near Galashiels involving a motorcycle and a car.

The incident occurred on the A7, around four miles north of the town, at around 8am this morning. The road has been closed in both directions and diversions are in place.

A 50-year-old man is said to have suffered serious injuries and is currently being cared for by the Scottish Ambulance Service.

Police are reminding motorists of ongoing roadworks which have closed the A592.

The road will be closed in both directions on Monday 26th January, Wednesday 28th January and Thursday 29th January between 7.30am and 5.30pm.

The road will be open on Tuesday 27th January where temporary traffic lights will be in place.

Police advise motorists to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.
