A 10-year-old girl had to be rescued when she got into difficulties in quicksand in Dalbeattie late this morning.
Fire and rescue services were called to Sandyhills just before midday where the girl was stuck in the quicksand.
Two fire engines, a fire rescue boat and several other officers were involved in the rescue, which took more than two hours.
Two people have been rescued bylifeboat after they were cut off by the incoming tide at Sandhills in Dumfries and Galloway.

Kippford Lifeboat raced to the rescue and the couple and their pets were taken back to the beach suffering only from shock.
