Drivers fuelled by petrol station demolition

It was the moment frustrated motorists in Newcastleton had campaigned for for several years. Diggers moved in to demolish the village's former petrol station... paving the way for new community owned petrol pumps.

Locals gathered to celebrate the occasion - they claim without a petrol station in the village drivers face a ninety minute winter journey for fuel.
