Victoria Wood's new stage play Housewife 49 attracted a sell-out crowd in South Cumbria last night.
The comic writer and actress chose Bowness-on-Windermere's Old Laundry Theatre for the world premiere.
It runs for three weeks.
Victoria Wood has chosen a part-time theatre in Cumbria as the venue for the premiere of a stage version of her award-winning TV drama Housewife, 49.
Wood is a patron of the Old Laundry theatre in Bowness-on-Windermere, which operates for three months a year.
The Old Laundry seats up to 280 people and is attached to the World of Beatrix Potter tourist attraction, which uses some of its income from visitors on the trail of the Cumbria-based Peter Rabbit creator, to subsidise plays.
The play begins today and runs until 5th October.
