Decision expected on care homes closure

Campaigners want three west Cumbrian care homes to remain open Credit: ITV Border

Residents of three west Cumbrian care homes will find out today if they are to be closed by Cumbria County Council.

The authority says Park Lodge in Aspatria, Richmond Park in Workington and Woodlands in Distington are no longer fit for purpose.

But campaigners say they want them to stay open.

A consultation has been held into the proposals.

A decision is expected to be made by cabinet members at a meeting in Kendal this morning.
