Cumbria police have confirmed the name of the man who died after jumping into the River Lune as 22 year old Darrell Teal from Manchester.
Police were called to the incident in Kirkby Lonsdale after reports that a man had failed to resurface after jumping off the town's Devils Bridge.
The fire and rescue service, local mountain rescue team and specialists from the underwater police diving unit were at the scene.
Mr Teal's body was found just before midnight a short distance downstream from the bridge.
There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
