Woman sexually assaulted as she walked home

A woman has been sexually assaulted as she walked home from a night out in Dumfries. The attack happened on the A711 Dalbeattie Road on the outskirts of Dumfries in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police believe the victim tried to flag down a lorry after the attack and are asking the driver to contact officers as they believe he or she may have vital information. It's also believed a car driver, possibly a taxi driver, stopped and spoke to the victim. They're being asked to come forward.
