Retirement beckons for groundsman at Carlisle Racecourse

After a quarter of a century in charge Tony Wootton presides over his final day as head groundsman on Wednesday 12th September

"It's in my blood and it always will be. I love racing."

Tony Wootton took the regns at Carlisle back in 1987 and has been a huge part of transforming the racecourse into one of the finest tracks in the north of England. At the age of 67 this will be his final meeting in charge before handing over control to his son thomas.
