A man from the Isle of Whithorn in Dumfries and Galloway is among the 19 people killed in a plane crash in Nepal.
He has been named locally as 45 year old businessman, Darren Kelly. He is thought to have been on the trip with his brother.
The cause of the crash has not been established but is thought to have been caused by a flock of birds.The company which the tourists were travelling with have released this statement:
"We are devastated by this news. Our thoughts are very much with the families of those affected, both in the UK and in Nepal.
"The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) said the families of the victims have all been informed.
"The weather was good. The plane was departing for Lukla and our passengers were heading for Everest Base Camp at the start of their trek.
"We have no more information at present."
The Foreign Office have confirmed seven Britons were among the dead.
