Alex Salmond will visit Dumfries today. The Scottish First Minster will see the sight of a new school that's being built as part of the Scottish Governemnt's schools for the future program.
Earlier in the day Mr Salmond will officially open an observatory in the Dark Sky Park in the Galloway forest.
The observatory is on the edge of the Galloway Forest Dark Park - one of only five "gold tier" dark sky parks in the world and the only one to offer a public observatory
