Search teams fear missing fisherman has 'fallen into the River Eden'

Search teams fear a missing fisherman may have fallen into the River Eden in Carlisle after they discovered his fishing equipment on the riverbank. Teams made up of police, the RNLI and the coastguard launched a major search of the river and its banks this morning.

The man was reported missing yesterday after he failed to return home from a fishing trip on Friday. An RNLI lifeboat from Silloth has joined with Coastguard teams from Annan, Maryport and Brough by Sands to search the waterway while police teams comb the river bank.
