New year messages from Carlisle City Council

The Mayor of Carlisle and the Leader of Carlisle City Council are sending New Year messages to Carlisle's residents, businesses and visitors:

"As the Mayor of Carlisle, may I wish you all a very happy and healthy New Year.

“Although the festive season is for many a joyful time of year, for those who are by themselves over Christmas and New Year, it can be very lonely.

"I would urge communities to think of their neighbours and come together to support each other.

“I wish everyone well for 2013 and I hope that we see our city grow and prosper.”

– Councillor David Wilson, Mayor of Carlisle

“Carlisle seems to be holding its own, during these challenging times and I would urge everyone in the city to continue to work together in what may be a very difficult year in 2013.

"I am particularly concerned for our youngsters. We need to create more apprenticeships and the happiest Christmas we could give our young people is the prospect of a job in 2013.”

– Councillor Joe Hendry, Leader of Carlisle City Council
