'Vulnerable' Workington woman found

A 'vulnerable' 40 year-old woman from the Workington area was found safe and well in the early hours of this morning after becoming disorientated after leaving her residential home.

The woman, who has learning difficulties, was found by members of the Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team a short distance from where she disappeared.

"The lady was reported missing at 18:16, we called in the Mountain Rescue team shortly after midnight to aid with the search. She has learning difficulties and was vulnerable.

The mountain rescue team found her a few hours later and she was apparently in good spirits and said she had become stranded by the river and disorientated. She was cold and wet and was thankfully returned to her home."
