A driver suffered leg injuries after her car hit a tree in Dumfries and Galloway.

The car left the road, ran down a slope and crashed into a tree at 1.45pm yesterday (3rd January), on the A755 between Kirkcudbright and Gatehouse.

Police and an ambulance were called to the scene and two fire engines were used to winch the car up the slope, in order to free the driver.

The road was closed for one hour and the woman was taken to hospital for treatment.

A spokesperson from the Fire Service stated that:

“This is a reminder that the quiet country roads in our area can be just as dangerous as busy roads and everyone should be extremely careful and drive to the conditions of the road.”
