Work to investigate the cause of flooding along a section of the A595 around Bigrigg south of Whitehaven in Cumbria has begun.
The drainage system will be cleaned and surveyed on the half a mile stretch and work will be complete by 22nd January.
The work will be taking place during the day but confined to an off-peak period between 9.30am and 2.30pm each day to minimise disruption along the busy stretch.
– Jonathan Reade, Highways Agency
"This is important work to identify the cause of occasional flooding along this section of the A595 and help us come up with a solution.
"We have timed the work to take place during an off-peak period during the day when traffic levels are low. We will be doing our best to ensure any inconvenience to drivers and residents is kept to a minimum."
