International search underway for missing Penrith girl and her baby son

Police are searching in France to try and find a 15 year old girl and her baby son. Catalina Covaci and six month old Ricardo were last seen at her home in Penrith on 19th December. Police know she caught a train from Penrith to Manchester Piccadilly.

Officers have contacted Interpol and a search has now begun internationally with enquiries so far extending to France, where she has family. She is originally from Romania and has links with Romanian and travelling communities.

We are stepping up our efforts to trace Catalina and Ricardo and believe that someone out there is helping them. This will have been Ricardo’s first Christmas and Catalina may well have wanted to travel to visit family, friends or acquaintances. However time is going on and we need to know that they are safe.

The #helpfindcatalina hashtag has been launched on Twitter in a bid to reach a wider audience and in the hope that the online community will spread the word and come forward with information.
