A single headteacher will be appointed for all four Roman Catholic primary schools in Scottish Borders.
Scottish Borders Council took the decision after consulting with staff, parents and the Roman Catholic Church.
Concerns have been raised by some parents about the job being too demanding for one person.
But the council says the move is necessary to address recruitment issues and varied inspection results across the four sites.

"“I would like to thank the review group and everyone else who has contributed to this review. It has been a complex exercise given the legal constraints, the requirements of the Roman Catholic Church and the needs of pupils, staff and parents at the schools, which all have to be balanced in reaching a decision.
“I believe the decision made today to appoint a single headteacher across all four schools is a good one and that it delivers a post which will attract an excellent headteacher to take Roman Catholic education forward in the Scottish Borders.”
