A 54-year-old man from Workington has died in hospital after being hit by a car.
The accident happened at 5.45pm last night (15th January), on Oxford Street in Workington.
A grey Honda CR-V, driven by a 50-year-old woman from Workington, collided with the man near to the Park Lane junction.
The man was taken to West Cumberland Hospital with serious head injuries, but died in hospital this morning (16th January).
The driver of the Honda was arrested at the scene on Suspicion of Driving Without Due Care and Attention and has been released on bail.
The road was closed for four hours for police investigations.
