The bad weather has caused all sorts of problems - school closures, icy roads and transport delays ...
However, there is one group of people making the most of the snow. Skiiers and snowboarders have been flocking to the Pennines. John Bevir put on his ski boots and went to join them.

29-year-old Matt Campbell collapsed after running 22.5 miles. He received medical treatment at the scene, but died later in hospital.
