Burns bonanza begins
The 'world's biggest Burns supper' officially kicks off today.
The three day celebrations begin with a musical and theatrical opening ceremony at the Midsteeple in Dumfries, involving around 700 people.
Traditional Burns suppers are also taking place at various locations across the town.
A specially constructed 'Festival Village' is being held in the Old market at the Whitesands.
The village includes an original 1920's Spiegeltent, a children's tent and two outdoor bars.
